Community Land Trust Of Schenectady’s mission is to foster healthy communities through the creation, stabilization, and preservation of quality long-term affordable housing.

COMMUNITY LAND TRUST OF SCHENECTADY is one of over one hundred community land trusts in then nation today. A community land trust is a nonprofit corporation that owns land and holds it “in trust” forever for the benefit of  the community. COMMUNITY LAND TRUST OF  SCHENECTADY employs the CLT model to  create a supplemental market of permanently affordable homes CLT homeowners  receive a reasonable rate of return on their investment and benefit from the  security that comes with homeownership. The community at large benefits from the  stability brought about by owner occupied home.

COMMUNITY LAND TRUST OF SCHENECTADY is a  democratically structured, membership based, community land trust, working to  create healthy communities through permanently affordable homeownership. We  promote affordable, ecologically sound land use for housing and working  landscapes by offering financial and educational support to the residents of the  city of Schenectady.

COMMUNITY LAND TRUST OF  SCHENECTADY (CLTS) was formed in 1991 to provide affordable  housing in the Hamilton Hill and Vale neighborhoods of Schenectady. Today we  serve the entire city of Schenectady.

In December 2000, CLTS was designated  a Neighborhood Preservation Company by the New York State Department of Housing  and Community Renewal. Our financial support comes from a variety of additional  government and private sources.
